Logistics That Protects Product, Margin, and Service

Food and beverage supply chains operate under tight delivery windows, changing demand, temperature requirements, and complex distribution constraints. Solving the reasons costs or service issues continue to rise takes more than a quoted lane; it takes a solutions mindset. We work with companies that need to:

  • Reduce total landed cost alongside the linehaul rate
  • Improve reliability across refrigerated and dry freight
  • Manage complex or multi-stop distribution
  • Coordinate transportation and warehousing under one operating model
  • Improve visibility into freight, inventory, and delivery performance
  • Redesign a network that no longer fits the business
  • Support a new product launch, market expansion, acquisition, or operational transition
  • Consolidate logistics strategy and execution under a single accountable partner

The right logistics model supports the business strategy, so the business never has to work around a fragmented provider network.

How We Improve Food & Beverage Supply Chains

We review freight data, shipment patterns, delivery requirements, warehouse costs, inventory movement, service failures, and provider performance. The goal is to understand where cost and risk enter the system.

A lower transportation rate can still increase total cost through expedites, missed appointments, poor inventory placement, accessorials, product damage, or excess handling. We evaluate the full operating model before recommending a change.

We coordinate transportation, warehousing, technology, and partner requirements so the solution works in daily operations. Our team supports provider transitions, facility changes, process redesign, and performance measurement.

We establish the KPIs needed to manage cost, service, visibility, and reliability. As volumes, customers, products, and markets change, we refine the operating model with your team.

Proven Food-Service Logistics Experience

Hissho Sushi provides fresh-made sushi to major grocery retailers, medical facilities, colleges, universities, and corporate campuses. Today, Hissho Sushi manages more than 2,300 sushi bars across 44 states. Hissho needed stronger visibility into inbound freight costs, better outbound transportation planning, and improved communication across a complex distribution network. We implemented business intelligence and shipment-visibility tools, including Power BI and MacroPoint, to support KPI reporting, delivery acknowledgments, labor planning, and cost analysis. The engagement also included pricing governance and network changes. A quarterly pricing guideline reduced previous per-mile rates by 5% to 7% and contributed to 13% savings on outbound transportation costs. We also achieved $500 in savings per inbound container from port to door, generated $15,000 in net savings through an Arizona distribution-center relocation, and completed nearly 100 additional deliveries at $75 less per pallet than the prior year.

  • Freight and warehousing costs are increasing without a clear explanation
  • Service issues continue across refrigerated, dry, LTL, or multi-stop freight
  • The current warehouse network no longer fits demand
  • Multiple providers operate without a clear strategic owner
  • Leadership needs better visibility into landed cost and performance
  • The company is entering a new market, launching a product, or changing its operating model

Frequently Asked Questions

Food and beverage logistics includes the transportation, warehousing, fulfillment, distribution, visibility, and network planning required to move products reliably from suppliers to facilities, customers, stores, or other delivery locations. The right service mix depends on your products, customer requirements, geography, delivery model, and growth plans.

Yes. We provide refrigerated LTL and reefer truckload transportation for food, beverage, and other temperature-sensitive freight. Our focus is transportation reliability, equipment requirements, provider performance, delivery windows, and shipment visibility.

We evaluate shipment patterns, delivery windows, equipment requirements, customer constraints, warehouse placement, and provider performance. We then design and implement a model that supports reliable execution at an appropriate total landed cost.

Yes. We provide receiving, inventory management, fulfillment, outbound coordination, reporting, and system integration through Extensiv WMS. We operate our own facilities in the Twin Cities and Houston and extend capacity through an expansive partner network.

Where temperature-controlled storage is part of the network, we evaluate placement and facility options as part of the broader design.

We evaluate total landed cost across transportation, warehousing, inventory placement, routing, accessorials, expedites, service failures, and provider performance to identify savings opportunities that may be missed by a traditional lane-rate review.

Reevaluation is appropriate when costs are difficult to explain, service failures continue, visibility is limited, the network has outgrown its original design, or the current provider model is holding back business growth. We assess the operating model and identify the changes most likely to create measurable value.
